Sheep are shorn once a year, from October to December. This term does not refer to the animal's age but indicates that the fibers are exceptionally fine and soft. The alpacas from which the wool for Haya yarns is obtained live in Peru. They are shorn once a year during the spring-summer season, which in Peru lasts from October to early June. Mulberry silk is the most perfect of natural silks. Haya yarns use only the highest A1 grade mulberry silk.
